Abstract submission

Online submission will open on 1st September 2026

The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the ESPN 2027 Symposium - Committed to the Future.

Selected abstracts will be presented as oral communications or posters.

  • Tuesday, September 1st, 2026: Call for abstracts – launch
  • Tuesday, December 1st, 2026: Abstract submission deadline
  • Thursday, February 25, 2027: Notification to authors
  • Wednesday, March 31, 2027: Author registration deadline

General conditions

  • All abstracts, written in English language, must be submitted before Tuesday, December 1st, 2026 (23:59 CET).
  • They must be submitted exclusively through the online system, opening on 1st September 2026. No other means are accepted.
  • The e-mail address of the corresponding author (preferably first author) will be used for further information on the acceptation of the abstract and to link it with the registration process. It must be checked carefully.
  • It is the responsibility of the corresponding author that the authors’ list is correct and that all agree on the contents of the abstract.
  • All abstracts must be written and submitted in clear, concise English only.
  • The abstract is not successfully submitted before the reception of a confirmation e-mail.
  • The abstract can be modified until the deadline of December 1st, by using the link in the confirmation e-mail or login to the author’s personal account.
  • Abstracts will be selected as oral presentations or posters and the presenting author notified by February 25th, 2027.
  • The abstract will be finally accepted only if the presenting author is registered by the early bird registration deadline, March 31, 2027 (23:59 CET).
  • One registered author can present no more than 2 abstracts.

Abstract title

  • The title must be entered in the abstract system, and NOT included it in the abstract’s text. It should be as brief as possible, but long enough to clearly indicate the nature of the study.
  • No full stop at the end.The title should be typed using small letters, title starting with a capital letter, and should not exceed 20 words.
  • Do NOT type the full title in capital letters. Registered trade names are not allowed in title.
  • Abbreviations shall not be used in the title, except when they are widely known throughout science (e.g., DNA, RNA) or are terms better known by abbreviation (e.g., IgG, CD).

Authors

  • The author’s addresses and affiliations must be entered in the abstract system, not in the abstract’s text.

Contents of the abstract

  • The abstract word limit is max. 350 words (main text, excluding title, author names and affiliations). No reference is allowed in the abstract.
  • The abstract should be written as a single piece of text without using headings, although the following information is expected: Aim or purpose of the study must be clearly exposed.
  • Materials and methods should be described (type of birds, experimental units, parameters, observations). Commercial references should be avoided, expect in material and method description (commercial names should be mentioned only once in the abstract).
  • Results should be presented in a logical sequence. No table or illustration should be included.
  • Conclusion should emphasize new and important aspects of the study and highlight the impact of the results.
  • Only experiments based on replications and solid experimental designs will be accepted for presentation at the meeting. The use of incorrect or inadequate statistical approaches to analyze biological data, as well as to interpret results, will lead to rejection.
  • The authors remain fully responsible for the scientific content presented, regardless of any use of AI tools, which can be used as an assistive tool and not as a substitute for the intellectual, critical, and creative processes of researchers. Please read our AI usage charter

Topics

The presenting author should prioritize the preferred topics from 1 to 5 (online process)

  1. Feestuffs and Ingredients in a context of Global Environmental Changes (novel ingredients, alternative feedstuffs, processing, …)
  2. Nutrients and feed formulation (requirements, formulation, responses)
  3. Nutritional Strategies for Preventing Health and Production Issues (health and welfare, gut health, nutritional strategies)
  4. Optimizing Nutrition Across Multiple Production Systems (alternative or new systems, phase feeding, early nutrition…)
  5. Data management for Precision Poultry Nutrition (big data, modeling, precision feeding)

For all sessions, studies on all poultry species (chickens, turkeys, waterfowls, Guinea fowls, quails, …) and productions schemes (broiler and layer, broiler and layer breeders, intensive, alternative, …) are welcome. Response variables such as (gut) health, egg & meat quality, and welfare could fit in any of the sessions.

Abstract review

  • The Scientific Committee will organize the review and evaluation of the abstracts; the corresponding author is kindly requested to check the e-mail submitted to display possible requests for changes coming from reviewers and answer in due time.
  • For accepted abstracts, the Scientific Committee will decide the type of the presentation (Oral/Poster), taking into account the preferred presentation type where possible.
  • Notification of acceptance or rejection of the abstract will be sent to the presenting author on February 25, 2027.

Conditions of acceptance - checklist

By completing the submission of your abstract, the presenting author confirms being aware and accepting the following terms:

  • The presenting author understands that should the abstract be accepted for presentation, she/he is required to complete a conference registration no later than 31 March 2027 and to come to Bordeaux to present the work in person. Videoconferences or pre-recorded presentations will not be accepted.
  • A registered author is allowed only two abstracts as presenter. No limitation applies to co-authorship, provided the rule above is fulfilled for each abstract. This is a prerequisite for incorporation to the proceedings.
  • Each author / presenter listed agrees with the content of this abstract and has given permission to be listed as an author / presenter.
  • The submitting author, acting on behalf of all coauthors, provides permission for the Symposium organizers to publish the abstract in their chosen format
  • The submitting author understands that the abstract will be published, if accepted, as submitted and that no editing to grammar or spelling will be undertaken.
